In the world of clothing, the fabrics used in clothing are diverse and constantly changing. However, overall, high-quality and high-end fabrics have several characteristics such as comfortable wearing, sweat absorption and breathability, hanging and firm, visually noble, and soft touch. When making clothing for formal social occasions, it is advisable to choose pure cotton, pure wool, pure silk, and pure linen products. Clothing made from these four pure natural fabrics is mostly of a higher grade. Sometimes, wearing clothing made of pure leather is also allowed.
Below, we will provide a brief introduction to the characteristics of common clothing fabrics.
1. Cotton fabric
Cotton fabric is a general term for various types of cotton textiles. It is often used to make fashion, casual wear, underwear, and shirts. Its advantages are easy warmth retention, soft and snug fit, excellent moisture absorption and breathability. Its disadvantage is that it is prone to shrinkage and wrinkling, and its appearance is not very stiff and beautiful. It must be ironed frequently when worn.
2. Hemp cloth
Hemp is a type of fabric made from various hemp plant fibers such as hemp, flax, ramie, jute, sisal, and banana. It is generally used to make casual and workwear, and currently it is also commonly used to make ordinary summer clothes. Its advantages are extremely high strength, moisture absorption, thermal conductivity, and excellent breathability. Its disadvantage is that it is not very comfortable to wear, with a rough and stiff appearance.
3. Silk
Silk is a general term for various silk fabrics woven from silk as raw material. Like cotton fabric, it has many varieties and diverse personalities. It can be used to make various clothing, especially suitable for making women's clothing. Its strengths are lightness, fit, softness, smoothness, breathability, vibrant colors, luster, nobility and elegance, and comfortable wearing. Its shortcomings are that it is prone to wrinkling, easy to absorb, not sturdy enough, and fades quickly.
4. Woolen fabric
Woolen, also known as woolen fabric, is a general term for fabrics woven from various types of wool and cashmere. It is usually suitable for making formal and high-end clothing such as dresses, suits, coats, etc. Its advantages are wrinkle resistant and wear-resistant, soft to the touch, elegant and crisp, elastic, and strong warmth retention. Its main disadvantage is that it is difficult to wash and not suitable for making summer clothes.
5. Leather
Leather is a tanned animal fur fabric. It is often used to make fashion and winter clothes. It can be divided into two categories: one is leather, which refers to leather that has been treated with hair. The second is fur, which refers to leather that has been treated with continuous belt hair. Its advantages are lightness, warmth, and elegance. Its disadvantage is that it is expensive and requires high storage and care, so it is not suitable for popularization.
6. Chemical fiber
Chemical fiber is the abbreviation for chemical fiber. It is a textile made of fibers made from polymer compounds as raw materials. It is usually divided into two categories: artificial fibers and synthetic fibers. Their common advantages are bright colors, soft texture, firm drape, and smooth comfort. Their disadvantages are poor wear resistance, heat resistance, moisture absorption, and breathability. They are prone to deformation when exposed to heat and generate static electricity. Although it can be used to make various types of clothing, its overall grade is not high and it is difficult to ascend to the realm of elegance.
7. Blended material
Blended fabric is a textile made by blending natural fibers and chemical fibers in a certain proportion, which can be used to make various types of clothing. Its advantage is that it not only absorbs the advantages of cotton, linen, silk, wool, and synthetic fibers, but also avoids their respective disadvantages as much as possible, and is relatively inexpensive in value, so it is very popular.
